Eating high fiber foods do have many benefits, such as lowering the risk of heart disease, diabetes, colon cancer and breast cancer.
The experts suggest, the average adult needs about 25 grams (women) to 30 grams (men) and about 20 grams for children. But when people consume fiber to more than 45 grams per day, the fiber can actually be bad for the body.
Reporting from buzzle, Friday (08/10/2010), due mostly to 5 eating fiber:
Actually, when people eat fiber in sufficient quantities and appropriate, then the fiber will clean the dirt in the stomach and intestines can become softer. But if you eat more fiber than your body needs, fiber can actually make constipation (difficult bowel movements).
This is because fiber absorbs water passing through the digestive system. So if people are too much consumption of fiber, water in the digestive tract too much to absorb. The result can be a difficult bowel movements.
For the same reason that fibers can absorb water, it is not surprising that people who eat too much fiber to be dehydration (lack of body fluids).
Abdominal bloating is a byproduct of gas emission combination digestive processes in the body. Excess fiber can cause abdominal bloating due to intestinal bacteria digest fiber excessively, thus making the gas as a by-product.
4. Weight gain
People generally eat lots of fiber in the hope to maintain weight. But the fact that even eating too much fiber can cause people to gain weight.
This happens because a lot of fiber means to absorb much water. So the amount of water that are not needed may be stored in the body, which is called water retention. This retained water that eventually makes you a rising weight.
5. Difficult pregnancy
Research shows that consumption of too much fiber can reduce levels of estrogen and some other reproductive hormones such as progesterone, luteinizing hormone and follicle-stimulating hormone.
High fiber intake, especially of fruits was also associated with high risk of having menstrual cycles anovulatori, namely the ovaries fail to release the egg. These findings have been reported in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.
Fiber is very beneficial for the body, but it must be remembered that an exaggeration of course, also bring a bad effect. So, you should always watch your diet and eat according to the needs of the body.
